There is an empty sunset
at the end of evening’s glow.
A place where most have wandered,
a place most choose to go.
What lingers there are broken smiles,
dreams cut short at whim.
For as the sun sets deeper,
so sinks imagination’s end.
But I know of another place
where you and I can go.
For after darkness weighs us down,
this place hath light that glows.
Where new paths form and dreams they roll
from leaves like heavy dew.
This place is where God turns our paths
and builds us something new.
The sun it slowly creeps and crawls
above the rigid crest.
And in the rays, new smiles form
that curl with peace and rest.
For memories we hold so tight,
give strength and they inspire.
And soon we find our hidden pain
press forth our future desire.
