Ever since releasing my second book, Sex, Jesus, and the Conversations the Church Forgot in March of 2018, and scraping the surface layer off of long-buried topics and hushed questions within the body of Christ, I’ve been listening. Listening to the overwhelming flood of feedback. Listening to harbored hunger find its voice. Listening to so many people’s struggles, stories, messages and specific questions.
Specific and personal questions like:
– I want to break free from the guilt and shame of my sexual past, but I don’t know how. How do I stop the perverse dreams, triggers and memories?
– What does God have to say about masturbation? If I’m not involving anyone else, is it even sin?
– What are some practical tips on navigating singleness and dating in a sex-consumed, hookup culture?
– I need help navigating through sexual issues in my marriage. How do I handle my spouse’s struggle with porn? How do I move past my personal issues to actually desire and enjoy sex in marriage?
– How and when should I talk to my kids about sex? My kids are teenagers now–is it too late? I have a messy sexual past so who am I to teach them about this topic?
I wish those who sheepishly ask me questions along these lines knew the sheer number of others who nervously ask and share the very same. So many of us have or are currently navigating through identical issues–it’s only shame and silence that keep us isolated in ignorance to how common our hardships truly are.
But I’ve heard you. And I’ve prayed. For close to a year I’ve sought the Lord and sifted through His Word for deeper understanding. In response, this 8 part video curriculum was curated to dive deeper. To unpack and process through practical and applicable truths around topics beyond what the book covered, with the goal of intimately guiding you to a place of surrender, understanding, healing and equipment moving forward.
It is a thorough, in-depth course that can be moved through at your own pace, in the privacy of your own home. Because when it comes to all things sex, it’s not always easy to publicly process some of the harder and more “taboo” struggles we’re navigating through. I believe one of the best places to start is by taking a step of faith with a sound resource, learning what God’s Word actually has to say and allowing the Holy Spirit to tend to your heart and minister to your specific circumstances.
So what’s inside? 8 power-packed classes that press in to the deeper spiritual layers at play in your sexual journey and equip you to walk in truth, healing, freedom and boldness.
Here’s a sneak peek at 4 of my favorite sessions…
Class 3 — The Cycle. From our eyes to our minds to our actions to our hearts. Once you know the pattern in which sin enters in and takes route in your life, you can identify how to uproot the strongholds suffocating your story. From addictions to porn, to cycles of promiscuity you can’t seem to quit, to toxic relationships you consistently return to, to habitual sexual sin in marriage–the Word coaches us with perfect precision on how to practically break out of the strongholds that lord our stories.
Class 6 — Singleness & Dating. From the often misunderstood purpose and value of singleness, to the temptation of and truth around masturbation, to discerning when it’s appropriate to date, what you should look for in another, and how we should practically carry ourselves in a committed relationship–this course peels through the practical side of singleness and dating with both clarity and conviction.
Class 7 — The Marriage Bed. (My favorite session!) This class tackles the 5 most frequently asked questions around sex in marriage and gives clear, specific and power-packed guidance towards where we can find the answers in Scripture. From questions about seeing sex as ‘dirty’ then struggling to “flip the switch” at the altar in order delight in it…to questions about which sexual acts are or aren’t allowed in the marriage bed…to dividing differences in sexual desire…to painful questions about porn and handling a spouse’s struggles…this class covers a wide range of very real concerns affecting our covenants.
Class 8 — The Coaching Assignment. How and when should I talk to my kids about sex? The most common question I receive. Our children don’t need our perfection, they need our presence. And it is our job to be their sounding board of truth in a disorienting world. Learn what God clearly instructs us in, as parents, and how to go about navigating what can feel like awkward, muddy waters.
